Happy New Year!

Hello All,

We have undertaken the learning of our poems for the Poetry In Voice competition. In an effort to deepen your recitations we are looking at the meanings and tonal shifts in your poems.

Please continue to do the following:
  • Continue to commit your poem to memory.
  • Take care to say it aloud in a variety of ways.
  • Research the poem and the poet.
Tone map your own poem Due next class:
  1.  Consider where the logical mood/tonal shifts are.
  2. Write tone words from the list provided above each tone-section (perhaps you may need a few for each).
  3. Be exacting. Go beyond "sad" try "despondent" or "ennui" or "gloomy"
We will practice our poems daily. I expect you'll be "off book"  by the start of next week.

THE SCHOOL WIDE COMPETITION IS FEB. 4 B BLOCK AND FEB.5 F BLOCK.

THE CLASS COMPETITION; THEREFORE,  SHALL BE JAN. 26 (G ) OR 27(B).

I am very excited to see/hear your poems come to life!

Warmly,
Ms.S
