Hello 12s,

Because we are all busy, I’ve prepared a list of the events for each block until the end of term 2. You have you’re The Taming of the Shrew unit overviews (essay test question as well as each assignment leading up to it). This is a breakdown of the pace and Due dates for the various elements of the unit. Do not work ahead without checking in with me about the assignment formatting please.

Jan. 26^th: :

·      Assigned, 1A chart due next block Feb. 1

Feb. 1:

(This is a fairly densely packed class and homework session)

·      Submit 1A

·      Review:  Induction/guiding questions

·      Watch Ref. Sec. 1,2,3

·      Read reference sections 2-4 1B Due next block Feb. 3 (consider critical theory)

·      Read reference section 5. Consider 1C (be ready to discuss)

Feb. 3:

·      Submit 1B(Get this to me by 8:40 on Monday if you were absent today; not penalty)

·      Watch Ref. Sec. 4&5

·      Discuss (review Ref. Sec.4/ 5 and gather evidence/quotes)

·      Debate 1C (argue and guard against counter argument)(Debate will take place next blockFeb. 7)

·      Short in-class write (quiz weight) next block (This quiz write will now happen Feb. 9)

In-class write (45 minutes, you may use your text and any quotes you’ve collected so far)

·      2B Due next block Feb. 14(This is STILL due on Feb.14)

·      Read Ref. Sec. 6 & 7

·      Consider the Guiding questions and keep Critical theory in mind

Feb. 14:

·      Is Kate tamed? Discuss/support.

·      Watch Ref. Sec. 6 & 7

·      Consider Psychological/power/gender aspects of critical theory here.

·      Homework: Read to the end of the play!

Feb.16:

·      Watch to the end.

·      Is Kate tamed? Consider other guiding questions and critical theory.

·      Gather notes for debate.

·      Debate (Is Kate Tamed) next block Feb. 20 (gather notes for both sides of the debate; I’ll assign teams next day)

·      Final essay (test) Feb. 22

Feb. 20^th:

·      Team up and prep. 30 mins. (define term, state assertion, support logical arg.)

·      Debate in turns with rebuttals on either side. ( Points scored for each logical/supported point or supported rebuttal or defense thereof.)

Feb. 22:

·      In class essay test: Is Kate Tamed

o   Define tamed, state and support your argument in a logical, supported, carefully written argument.

o   You may use your books and a list of quotes (no sentences)

This will take us to the long weekend and to the end of term 2.
