Cultural tourist notes and Fire drill. . .

Hello All,

Due to the fire drill planned for 9:35 tomorrow, we will have to expedite our test.

Thanks to Tommy for reminding me to post the following:
Conveying your Cultural Tourist Findings

This assignment is conceptual more than it is structural or linguistic. As such, you may choose to format it variously.
·      If you think pictures alongside short captions is the best way, please feel free to do it that way.
·      If you’d like to divide your ideas by headings and subheadings or by using a flow chart that is fine.
·      If you’d like to write a very short (not more than two pages) summary of your experience/findings/thoughts that is fine.
·      If you’d like to write it like an anthropologist or a travelogue that might be fun.

What I NEED to SEE CLEARLY OUTLINED ARE:

·      What is being enacted and how is it happening? Help me “see/hear/smell/taste/touch” it.
·      What Story/premise/axiom seems to be the underpinning of this enactment/behaviour? (this may link to what is/is not valued/seen as obvious and “correct/incorrect”)=Mother Culture.
·      How does it create/effect Culture- who the community sees itself as?
·      Assess possible benefits/detriments of this aspect of the culture as you are interpreting it.
·      Is there anything in your observations that surprised you or that you saw in a new way as a result of being a cultural tourist in your own spaces?

Cheers,
Ms. S
