In class essay and Novel Study

Last class we reviewed the need for :

• T.A.G- Title, author, genre at the start of our literary responses.
• Literary Present tense when writing about literature.

We have begun the process of choosing novels for our independent novel study.

• Please ensure that no one has signed up for the same novel as you.
• Run your idea past me to ensure the book is sufficiently sophisticated in diction and/or themes for a grade 12 novel choice.
• Bring novel every day.

You should have collected the assignments sheet which contains all your instructions and your due dates. I have more copies if you need one.

The first assignment is Due Oct. 3/13 ; it is  your two chapter review.


Due: Oct. 1/13  In-class essay write.

• You will write on the  prompt: 'Some of the best gifts are born out of adversity.'

• The essay must blend narrative form  and one other form (comparison, persuasive, argumentative, descriptive, expository.)

• You will need to declare your second form intention at the top of your page.

• Form and diction ought to be governed by purpose/intention and audience.

• You may bring an outline (it must not have full sentences but merely be suggestive of your plan.)

•  You have the entire class in which to write.
