Today we were looking at ways in which writers arrange, structure, craft an essay to attain certain effects.
For next day's discussion, please do a close look at the essays we have read and plot the structure of each. Note shifts in time, tone, mood, place and diction as earmarks of the framing in of the ideas. Remember, there are many ways a writer can arrange a piece, just as there are many routes to get to down town. What route (form) one takes will have to do with the goals of the trip (written work).
In class essay October 1/13: You will be invited to write an essay that blends two or more forms together. Think of this as a chance to be playful with the arrangement and expression of your ideas. Have fun with it; you may as well enjoy yourselves! Remember term one is the no risk creative term. If you take a risk and it doesn't meet with your usual level of achievement you may re write it.
