Thank you for working on your cycle #1 while I was up at Grouse with the grade 9s.
- I am posting feedback below on your Cycle #1 so you will be ready for next class.
- I'll go over these with you in class (Dec. 8) and you'll have a few minutes to review them.
- Then they become homework due Dec. 12
We will start cycle #2 Dec. 8 in class. This will be an individual assignment and is quiz weight. These are Due Dec. 14th.

Notes on Cycle #1:
- Name the Story and the 'Hero' at the top
- Must be charted on the circle as demonstrated. This should keep your text minimal.
- Do Not give synopsis! Edit way down the amount of retelling you are doing. This is not a text rich assignment.
- The centre is Setting: Tell where but tell what it is like. How would you characterize it? ex. dark? foreboding? (It is NOT PLOT)
- What is gained through the preliminary trials? This is where the hero learns/gets/grows what is needed to transform/face the supreme ordeal . Tell us what is gained here. NOT PLOT ALONE
- Supreme ordeal is the moment of transformation for the hero. As such, it may not be the highest point of action.
- What Is the elixir? Name it. What is inherited/gained?
I am very much looking forward to what comes next!
